Why are Black Cats less likely to be adopted?
Since the middle ages, black cats became associated with Satan, Witches and Witchcraft. Some people believed that black cats were witches who could transform or had taken on another form. In extreme cases, this wide spread superstition lead to people mass killing black cats.

In modern day, these superstitions still have influence on some people. Many shelters do not give black cats home during October for fear that they will be used sacrificially.
